My Road to a Food Blog

Growing up on a farm, I spent my time either helping my dad with cows or haying, or in the kitchen with my mother. At the time, I didn't recognize how valuable that time spent with her was. I immensely disliked the hours in the kitchen being told tricks to making a quick lunch for the 10 people helping with silage in the field or canning peaches in the heat of the summer. Looking back, it has shaped how I see food, community and where my love affair with baking and cooking stemmed.

I decided to start a blog to document my culinary adventures for two reasons:

  1. I am a recipe follower and need incentive to experiment and create my own recipes.
  2. My mom wants to see what I'm up to.

Edmonton, Alberta is now my home. I can be found running in the early morning, working from 9 - 5, drinking beer in the late afternoon and watching Netflix in the evenings. Weekends are saved for baking, camping, canoeing, snowboarding and cleaning.
